In India 50% of the crops harvested rot before they can be eaten. The proposed Solar-Polar cooling units with their inherent dehumidification could be used in conjunction with prefabricated insulated storage units to prolong the life of the crops. The water harvesting form the cooling unit could be used to irrigate crops or for drinking water.

Keeping these crops fresh would increase rural prosperity, reduce the cost of food and improve urban poverty. India and other countries would turn into exporters of food and make the world’s food supply more robust.
